This rug is rendered in 100% wool, and ironically, a record of the Mill claims it was used for the production of wool fabric in the early 1800's. Through the years, it remained a mainstay of the town as a grist mill, then produced peach baskets, later became a dry goods establishment, as a 'black mill' producing graphite, and even later was known as the 'white mill' when it turned to grinding talc. Today, the Mill is a historical landmark and continues to be a wonderful testament to the ingenuity of a thriving rural community...and my hometown.
