Rug Hooking Magazine: Celebration of Hand-Hooked Rugs XXIII

Welcome to My Gallery

Hooking a rug provides a fiber artist with a creative outlet in order to produce a meaningful, utilitarian, or decorative keepsake. It is a fabulous way to calm the spirit, while doing some deep thinking or none at all.

Sometimes that satisfaction is enough. Then, after a time, with confidence gained and techniques perfected, the urge to share the vision with others is a natural progression.

The purpose of creating this site is to do exactly that. I hope that viewing my rugs will be like taking a stroll through an art gallery where artists meet kindred spirits to view the work, its inspiration, vision and creation.

My rug hooking family and friends are invited to share their work here as well. See their rugs in the Guest Gallery. Let me know if you'd like to include YOUR rug in the Gallery.

Hooked Rug Details * Check out the Webstore

My rugs are all original designs, hand-crafted in the traditional rug hooking style from 100% wool fabric strips, not yarn, and born from a spark somewhere in my head or heart.

Since my love of rug hooking started back in 1990, many of the rugs on this site were hooked years ago. You will see that completion dates are included in rug descriptions. It is important to establish provenance, a history and record of a work of art. Labels sewn on the back of each rug also identify the maker, year, rug name and other relevant information about its creation.

Hooked rugs are meant to be used! Some rugs decorated my tabletops or walls for short periods. However, it may surprise you that in spite of their age, none of the rugs for sale were ever used on the floor. They are as clean as the day they were made.

They are intended to be used as durable and colorful floor coverings.....and oh-so comfortable under foot. Care instructions are included with each rug.

New rugs are added to the webstore as they are completed. All are created in a smoke-free and pet-free environment.

I hope that you will find a rug that speaks to you and lights a spark in your heart too. If so, be sure to let me know. I'd love to hear from you.

Back porch

Summer hooking with wool is no problem on the back porch, facing the woods and a pond view, with a nice cool cross-wind.

Hooking is a family sport

One of my favorite places to hook was in the family room while my son watched sports on tv.

Kitchen cozy

Another favorite hooking spot is a warm kitchen on a cold winter day.
